If you use auto update you should be on 16.0.2. But none the less companies are sometimes slow to update their software when version changes occur. Hang in there they will update you. It may be their site already has the update to download, I would check there.

I have no idea of your skills at changing the config file, but you can bump version numbers in the config file which is what Kaspersky is looking at.

For more info see this Post.

i called kaspersky support , they told me that its mozillas problem they have to solve this , because they do not supprt kaspersky new version, so what should we do nw?

This is a Kaspersky problem, complain to them and you may get some reaction/results and Kaspersky is not the only security vendor who is always late issuing updates for its add-ons with new Firefox versions.

Some information about the add-ons:

  • Kaspersky (and other security vendors) make some of their add-ons compatible with Firefox one Firefox version at a time.
  • Some vendors release updates on the same day that Firefox releases a new version because those vendors have learned to use the 6 week window while Firefox is in Beta to test their update for the next version of Firefox.
  • Firefox respects/honors the version numbers programmed into the add-on components by Kaspersky and other vendors.

Below is a reply from a Kaspersky user, on the Kaspersky forum on Nov 6 2012, posting the reply the user received from Kaspersky regarding Firefox 16 and Kaspersky. Please post your Kaspersky (or other security application vendor) complaints and/or request for help on that vendor's forum; Mozilla/Firefox can not help you with those issues.

Just to be clear, the support issue is "Kaspersky is not supporting Firefox", not the other way around and TheOldFox is spot on with his answer.

I find it strange they have not come up with better way of version change compatibility. You would think a security service would be more on top of it than they are.

Would it be at least possible for Mozilla to issue a warning when upgrading to disable Kaspersky safe money if upgrading to latest version?

Appreciate that this is Kaspersky's problem - but I have just spent 2 hours hunting down the problem with secure sites before finally finding the cause of the problem.

Thanks

Why are Kaspersky Internet Security 2013's v13.0.1.4190 add-ons such as: Url Advisor, Virtual Keyboard, Safe Money & Content Blocker also HP Smart Web Printing v4.05 and Plugins: Java(TM) Platform SE7 U7 10.7.2.11 are not compatible with Firefox 17.0.1? I have checked for updates and still they are disabled. Is there anybody working on those issues either at Mozilla or Kaspersky and when will we have a solution about these add-ons?

Kaspersky Internet Security 2013
As with any third-party add-on, it is Kaspersky's responsibility to release an update, when needed, to make their toolbar compatible with any browser, including Firefox. You can post in/follow/try the information listed in the following Kaspersky forum threads. Firefox/Moailla can not fix the issue with their add-on.

HP Smart Web Printing
HP discontinued their HP Smart Web Printing for all browsers except IE well over a year ago. That product was replaced (by HP) with HP Smart Print which is only compatible with 32-bit Internet Explorer (IE) versions 6 through 9.

Java(TM) Platform SE7 U7
Java 7 u7 was blocked by Mozilla due to serious security issues.

The current Java version is 7 u9.

Install patch D (released 12/03/2012) for Kaspersky toolbar, Firefox 16, 17 compatibility

Thanks - I have already installed patch D which solves most of the issues -finally.

My question remains - if there is known incompatibility wouldn't it make sense for Mozilla at least to issue a warning when the upgrade is installed?

hackin8:

Mozilla/Firefox does check and, in some cases, "bump" compatibility for add-ons offered on the official Firefox add-on site ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ ). Toobars and other Add-ons produced by other third-party vendors must be inspected by those vendors to be certain that they are compatible. It is important to remember that only the toolbar component is incompatible, not the underlying firewall/AV protection provided by your security application.

  • There are other security application vendors who release updates for their toolbar add-ons on the same day (or within a few days) after the release of a new Firefox version.
  • Kaspersky apparently does not take advantage of the 6 week beta period to update (if necessary) and test their toolbar add-ons for compatibility with the upcoming release.
  • Kaspersky's update D released on 12/3/2012 is a compatibility update for their toolbar functions for Firefox 16 (released 10/9/2012, almost 2 months prior) and Firefox 17 (released 11/20/2012, two week prior).
  • It is Kaspersky's responsibility to keep the paid users of their products happy and protected. That is an issue between Kaspersky and it paid users. Post on Kaspersky's forum for that issue.
  • I have never used a toolbar associated with a security application, as I feel that it is little more than "bloat". I depend on the protections built in to Firefox and the underlying firewall and AV protection provided by my security application. No security application, toolbar or browser (or combination thereof) can protect a user 100%. I use a sandboxing application with a separate Firefox installation for "critical" protection, such as banking. More complex, yes; safer, maybe.

You can install the following Add-on which will display the Firefox version(s) compatibility on your Add-ons display.
