Flash crashing since Flash update to 11.5 and Firefox update to 17.
About 4 days ago, Adobe Flash Player updated to 11.5 and started crashing multiple times a day. So when Firefox updated to 17 today, I immediately uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled the new versions in hope that the problems would be fixed. When that wasn't the case, I followed all the steps for Flash 11.3 and nothing has worked. This is only happening in Firefox. Flash works fine in Google Chrome and in Internet Explorer. My school's primary requirement is that I use Firefox with Flash to do my schoolwork. This is an issue if I have to restart Firefox multiple times during my session. 25% of all Flash crashes also crash Firefox. I need help soon.

I downgraded from 17 to 16.0.2, and Firefox works as it should with all sites, including Flash.
How did you downgrade Firefox back to 16.0.2?
Hi crazycappy, if you wanna change mms.cfg, you should make sure your current user account is in the Administrators group, run cmd.exe as Adminitrator and type in attrib -s -h -r C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\mms.cfg here is an example that to change the property of the file, then you can change the file as you will, you should be careful when you manipulate the files in system directory

"How did you downgrade Firefox back to 16.0.2? "
Uninstalled 17, and installed 16.
I'm just gonna use Chrome until Mozilla, Adobe or both fix the problem. I can't keep rebooting my PC when things go wonky and I'm trying to work.
I have repaired this problem. The problem is with Realplayer. It must be removed completely in order for flash to work with Firefox.
"The RealPlayer functionality, Downloading & Recording, has compatibility issues with Flash Player 11.3. If RealPlayer is installed, Flash Player content does not appear. YouTube provides an error message when you try to watch a video." Flash Player Help / Issues | Flash Player 11.3 | Mozilla Firefox
But WHAT IF you don't have Real Player installed like I don't? Then what? You're screwed?
I hate to say this, but I really don't know. Once I solved my problem, I stopped looking for a solution. Have you checked your firefox addins? I found a realplayer addin that I had to remove also.
Yes and I do not have Real Player add on. Majority of the solutions that is listed DOES NOT WORK. And I don't know how to uninstall Firefox 17 and install Firefox 16. So in other words, I'm f***ed.

Here is a couple links to older versions of Firefox
One other thing you could try is installing Real Player and then uninstall.
Here is a complete list of all versions of FF. Remember: Using old versions of Firefox poses a significant security risk.

That didn't help either. Trying to install it and I keep getting "Firefox needs to be closed in order to complete the installation. Please close Firefox." I closed everything I had open, even for 20 minutes and I STILL get that message.
Press CTL + ALT + Delete (task manager} and kill it in the process tab, simply find firefox and click end process. it will give you a warning but ignore it.
We will get you through this!

Whatever dude. Just trying to help.
AT THIS POINT AFTER A MONTH THERE IS NO HELP!!!
I've had it with Firefox as well.
Suffering with this for months now with no relief. It really sucks when all the great plugins and the work that so many have put into developing them are going to be wasted as I and many others move on to something else.
My business relies on me being able to have a stable web browser, and I couldn't tout FF enough in the past. Now it's a ripped garbage bag dripping rotten putrid ooze all over the brand new living room carpet.
Good bye Firefox, it's been fun while it lasted.
To be quite honest ThinkBachs? I don't think ANY of the Firefox technicians or ANYBODY of Firefox for that matter reads these complaints. If they did they would've SERIOUSLY take them to heart and join forces with ADOBE's techs and fix this CRAP of theirs.

I know, it just feels good to vent. My very last ditch effort is to use Your Uninstaller to remove FF and custom install 16.1 something or other with no auto update. We shall see, so far so good...
Actually, I went a bit further back: Thank you for using OldApps. Your download will start automatically If not please click here: Firefox 15.0.1 (16.97 MB)

I vented a couple of days before Christmas with someone who THINKS they're a technician and swore. Most of the words were edited, but you get the gist of the message.
I'm having trouble understanding why this thread hasn't been locked. :)
Sometimes people take part in pre-existing threads, because they think their problem, and more importantly the cause of their problem, is the same as the question owner. Half the time, it's not the same cause, and posting unhelpful replies makes it harder for people to help (having to read through pages of venting).
If you need help and are not the person who started this thread, it's best to use https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new where volunteers can get more details about your setup.
More people might start using it for their own questions, so I'm going to lock it.
If you're just looking to vent, use the Submit Feedback item in the Help menu. That info gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues. That data along with data from the support forum is then presented in the weekly Firefox delivery meeting.
