I have gone to "Manage Search Engines", deleted the ones I don't want, and unchecked the "Show search engines" box several times. Every time I close and re-open Firefox all of the original search engines are back in the list. Why is this, and how do I fix it?

Hello AleishaDawn1980, default search engines are stored in the Firefox installation directory in the "searchplugins" folder, you can find and delete the "*.xml" file (e.g., "google.xml") if you like.

If the search engine you want to delete is a newly-installed(you install it) then it is store in the Firefox profile folder again in the "searchplugins" folder, find it and delete it.

thank you

You can delete the search.json file and a possible search.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder.
