Whenever I close a tab/window and then want to reopen it under history>previously closed tabs/windows the fields are blank/do not open.

Oh, and my printer sometimes works and sometimes doesn't - it's a pain!

Verifies settings, click the Privacy section, you set "Remember history", perhaps this will not save tabs / windows closed recently.

On the subject of the printer, do you feel the same with other programs? It looks more like a windows error that Firefox itself.

Firefox is always set to "Remember history". I checked the custom settings as well and they are set to remember the history, so no go in the Privacy settings.

As for the printer... Thanks for the idea and hey! I have just tried printing using Explorer and it works! My wife said it was an XP printer and it wasn't compatible with a Windows 7 OS, even though I updated to a 7 driver... Ha ha! It seems it is just not compatible with FireFox. I hadn't even thought of that!

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":

  • do not clear the Browsing History

Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.

You can check the browser.sessionstore.* prefs on the about:config page and reset user set (bold) browser.sessionstore.*prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu to make sure that Session Restore is enabled and working properly.

I have always had my PC set to remember the history. Session restore is enabled and actually was used this morning :)

When it comes to recently closed tabs and windows, still nothing under history :(

You can check the value of these two prefs on the about:config page.

  • browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo
  • browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Hi there. My Lazarus form recovery didn't work either. I was advised to disable all my extensions to find out which one caused a conflict. All my previousy closed tabs now be seen and opened!
