set default download directory
i am trying to force firefox to only save to a windows share network location eg. .gvfs/dump i am running linux mint maya x 32 with active directory to a win2003 server. i have set the default save location in firefox to .gvfs/dump and all works great until there is network interference, such as a power cut/drop or internet crash or the server goes down. when the machines then reopen firefox or they try saving before the network is up again it reverts back to saving to downloads and i have to manually go round to every machine and change the settings again.
is it possible to force firefox to only save to the network location i need regardless of the location being available right there and then? so basically it will give an error saying the save location is not available and wont save until the network is up again going back to the set download directory and always keep the specified network location, and then on re-connection to the server will carry as normal???
i have edited the config file but still no luck:
user_pref("browser.download.defaultFolder", "/home/administrator/.gvfs/dump on server"); user_pref("browser.download.dir", "/home/administrator/.gvfs/dump on server"); user_pref("browser.download.downloadDir", "/home/administrator/.gvfs/dump on server"); user_pref("browser.download.lastDir", "/home/administrator/.gvfs/dump on server");
Chrome is able to do this but the constant pop up when saving really is far too annoying.
any help would be greatly appreciated

I think that when the drive you are saving to goes down, Firefox doesn't know what to do. What you could do is save everything to a temp folder, and when you are done, move it to the other drive.
