Archives folder vs. Gmail's All Mail folder- confused
I'm giving thunderbird another go after a few years (moving from mail.app). I got through gmail setup but I'm still at a loss as to what the difference is between the Archives folders in TB and Gmail's All Mail. I have my gmail accounts setup to archive to the all mail folder, which they do. However, I still see and Archive folder for Gmail in the sidebar and it acts just like the all mail folder (AFAICT) inside the online IMAP folders.
Can someone clear this up for me. Is the archive folder just a more direct route to "all mail"?
Some background: Mac OS X 10.9.1, thunderbird 24.3.0 gmail through IMAP.
Thanks.

from that I assume your using the unified folder view. Otherwise that archives entry simply does not appear.
They are one and the same thing the all mail and the archive folder you mention and the setting in the link define them to be the same thing.

Gmail account should have the archive folder set to point to the all mail folder.see
Thanks for the response. That's actually the issue. If you look at my original post, I have TB setup to archive to "all mail" exactly as described in the link you posted.
However, under the TB Archives folder, there is a gmail archive subfolder for that account. This folder has the same behavior as the gmail "all mail" folder.
So is that folder just a representation of the "all mail" folder or is TB archiving to both locations?

Yes, unified. Perfect, thanks for clearing that up!
