Thunderbird no longer auto saves my new email addresses. How do I fix this?
My Mozilla Thunderbird email client no longer auto saves new email address. When I try to manually save a new email, I enter it into my address book. When I close my computer and start work the next day, the email address that I manually added is no longer there.
I went to my address book and clicked on "Tools". Then I clicked on "Options". On the "Composition" tab I checked the settings for "Addressing" and it shows that I am clicked for "Automatically add outgoing e-mail to my: Collected Addresses."
And under "Address Autocompletion" I am clicked on to "Local Address Books" under the "When addressing messages, look for matching entries in:" area.
Please help me figure out how to get my auto save feature to work again.

That sounds like you are using a network with roaming profiles and your log off process does not write the changed data back to the server. Like the power goes off before the log off completes, or the network connection.
This is my work computer. There are 9 other computers using the Thunderbird client in my office, but mine is the only one not AutoSaving or saving it my address book when I manually input the email address. I cross checked my email settings and it appears that my settings are the same as everyone else in the office.
Please let me know if you have a solution. I was thinking about uninstalling an reinstalling the program, but I was afraid I would loose a lot of essential information.
When address books become corrupted, they don't retain edits or accept new entries. Follow these instructions to rebuild an address book:
1. Export the address book to an LDIF file (Tools/Export, Save as type: LDIF). 2. Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Open Folder, close TB, delete abook.mab, if Personal Address Book is the damaged address book (history.mab if it's Collected Addresses). 3. Start TB, Tools/Import... Address books...Text file... select the LDIF file. 4. Open Address Book, select the contacts in the imported address book and drag them onto the Personal Address Book icon in the left pane. Personal Address Book should now retain additions and edits.
