save password function diabled, and not clickable in options

some reason, my option to save passwords, for websites is no longer functioning and when i go into my tools/options/security

the box for remember passwords is unclicked. 
BUT!
it is LIGHT GREY and NOT CLICKABLE!!! ( nothing happens when i try to click) clicking in the box dose not work at all...


and i have previously saved passwords before, but not they arent working, and do not show up and i can not  seem to  click on "save passwords"

not using norton no, i have trend micro, but saying that. it was working before during and after i had trend micro, and just suddenly stoped working and if u uninstall firefox it will work again ( i did this a few days ago uninstalled and then installed and woola passwords working again)

only to have them do the same thing, not being asked to save passwords, and the box not clickable in the options...
ill read the norton advice and see if that translates to trendmicro
