Firefox crashes, and I uninstalled it, but it's still on my computer

Since Firefox crashed every time I opened it for the past week or so it was suggested I uninstall it. So I did that. But something strange happened. It no longer shows up in add/remove programs (using XP), but it's still on my computer. It still tries to open automatically when I turn on the computer (because of AIM), but of course won't open. The shortcuts stayed and the Mozilla folder is still in all programs. Now what? Just thinking that some time last week maybe I installed the latest version of Firefox and possibly the problem started after that. But my memory on that is hazy.
