I cannot view any images on the Ancestry.co.uk website. All it does is show a page asking me to install the enhanced image viewer.

The first line says: It looks like you don't have the enhanced image viewer istalled on your computer. Download it, or skip this tool and go to the image. The page stays on the screen for about 1 second and the reloads itself continuously.

This forum "see's" that you have that plugin installed in both extensions and plugins. (under More system details... in your posting) I don't know why the Ancestry.com website can't "see it".

Under extensions:
Ancestry.com Advanced Image Viewer
1.0.0.1
true

Under installed plugins:
Image Control Plugin for viewing images on Ancestry.com. Version 1.0.0.1

Sorry, I do not understand the reply to my query.

Firefox says you do have that image viewer installed, that problem is with the Ancestry.com website not recognizing that it is now installed.

Try doing {Ctrl + F5} when viewing a page that gives you that message, to reload the web page from the server. You might be seeing cached information.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

I have tried your suggestion without it helping. I use Windows XP and the Enhanced Image Viewer opens perfectly with Internet Explorer but it justs keeps flashing at me and telling me I need to download on Firefox.

Barbry, Are you the original poster in this forum thread - berkshound?

If not, open Tools > Addons > Plugins and see if the Ancestry.com Enhanced Image Viewer is listed there.

Yes, I am the original poster.

And the ancestry image viewer is present as an extension and a plug-in.
