Thank you for your reply and for the link to the article about other software disabling the popup blocker. McAfee was uninstalled on this system quite some time ago and the file referenced in the article was not found embedded on any drive or folder in the system. AdBlock Plus sounds worth trying, even though it will not solve the problem with Firefox failing to retain the check in the box to Block Pop Up Windows. Still, thank you for your quick and thorough reply.
