When I go to Yahoo Mail I usually can just click the User ID area and the ID and Password information will load as Firefox has that information already saved. That function has stopped with the update to Firefox 24. The user ID and Password information are still saved in FireFox.

What does happen is that if I go to tools/Options/ Security menu and then close it and then try to load the Yahoo mail and click the form it does the auto complete. If I navigate away from that page and go back the information will not load unless I open the Options menu again.

This update seems to have broken the auto complete function.

Chosen solution

1. The action of double clicking on Yahoo ID, double clicking on Password and then double clicking on Yahoo ID again works.

2. Alternatively, double clicking on Password and double clicking on Yahoo ID also worked.

3. Finally as a final test, double clicking only on Yahoo ID also worked by bringing up all the IDs.

Update @ 8.30pm: After having signed out for about 3+ hours, it did not work even after double clicking on Yahoo ID alone, but it worked when I clicked on Password first and then on Yahoo ID second or Yahoo ID, Password and then Yahoo ID again.

This method worked for me as I tested a few times using the above 3 methods. Clicking on an ID of my choice will auto-fill the Password.

I used to single click Yahoo ID and all the IDs will show, but since v23 it did not. Checked for a solution in the internet which recommended a temporary solution as once Yahoo Mail is closed after a session, it'll not show the ID again unless it (as well as Password) is manually typed in for the new session.

Now, it's just double clicking on Yahoo ID for me to log-in to my Yahoo Mail account.

I also have this problem. I've been asking around. Is It something Mozilla did or something Yahoo did. I've no responses.

This website uses autocomplete=off to prevent Firefox from saving and filling the name and password.

You can remove autocomplete=off with a bookmarklet to make Firefox save names and passwords and other form data.

autocomplete=off will also prevent Firefox from filling the name and password automatically, so you need to (double) click the name field to select the name from the drop-down list and possibly use the Tab key for the password to get filled.

Had been working for years, literally. problem started with FF 24.0

I'm with you. This started with FF 24.0. As far as I can see it's only a problem with Yahoo so let the finger pointing begin. I get around it by opening FF Tools/Options and then close the dialog box without making any changes and the Yahoo User Id and Password will load for that one session only.

Oh... and here is another work around. Click in the Used Id field then Click in the Password field then click the User Id field again. That brings up my Id s.

I upgraded from 23 to 24 too and had the same problem with yahoo. I did some debugging and saw that FF thinks that autocomplete is off so it would not do anything. After logging to one yahoo account manually and logging out then after clicking the check box so that I am not kept logged in I was able to go back to the UID field, click it and lo!!! all my yahoo UID's showed up.

I am not sure Yahoo is to blame. The above is what I did on my desktop. I have a laptop which had FF 23 and Yahoo behaved properly. One click in the UID field brought up all my Yahoo id's. Today I upgraded to FF 24 on the laptop and tried Yahoo again. No good. So I downgraded to FF23 and tried Yahoo again - Worked!! - all my uid's show up with one click in the UID field.

I went back to my desktop and tried the work around posted above - Click in the UID field then in the password field then again in the UID field and it worked - all uid's show up. Thanks for posting the work around.

I'm running Win 8.0 on 64 bit machine. Tried "Nightly" but dumped it because it was not running smoothly always updating and running slow. I have the same problem in both Yahoo login having to re-enter each time I login, but also FF ver 24 will not save any passwords at all. I removed it and re-installed it. Have done every thing listed in the help section to avail. ID's and passwords are not being saved. I even used several of the password management add-ons and they don't work either. Any ideas? Also same problem on another computer but it runs Win XP and is also current with FF 24. Leads to me believe it is a problem with FF not yahoo.

The work around from Snake2424 worked only one time for me but no more: "Oh... and here is another work around. Click in the Used Id field then Click in the Password field then click the User Id field again. That brings up my Id s."

I have been successfully using the first work around from Snake2424 -- "I get around it by opening FF Tools/Options and then close the dialog box without making any changes and the Yahoo User Id and Password will load for that one session only."

My computers run Windows 7.

Just added "Remember Pass"...big laugh didn't work! Also when it asks to "save password" nothing happens when you click yes! Something really wrong here. I'll try another program.

OK Mr. Mod...you offend me. I'm having exactly the same problem as the OP plus another related issue. But I see no one offering any solutions here! I'm showing the things I have tried to solve the same problem so that maybe someone including yourself could help solve it. So I guess no one here is smart enough to know what to do except criticize. That's typically the Mozilla attitude.

Question is did it help Snake 2424 and others? Maybe two separate issues? Your possible solution did not work for me. Thanks for trying. But now once I signed in it is remembering me so I don't have to sign in again after exiting. Why now? Didn't work before. But still also none of my passwords are shown as being "saved" in the security + saved passwords.

Question no one has asked, even the mods, which OS are being used. I have a Win 7 machine and so far have no problem with it using and saving passwords. One person was using a Mac. How about others?

My problem is with Win 8 and one machine using Win XP. I plan on comparing all settings later when I have time.

And isn't the idea of a "Forum" to help each other by sharing ideas?

mrjlh:

My post was not to offend you at all. I was simply stating that you shouldn't hijack other people's threads and to start a new thread with your problem.

Upon further reading of my original post, as I stated before, always start a new thread so you get one on one help. And another note, all of our staff are actually volunteers such as myself and we help users whenever we are available. Mozilla volunteers do not have a set schedule that we come on and help but when we do, we try to answer as much questions as we can.

Thank you for your time.
