I normally have no problem with emails downloading from my Gmail account into Thunderbird, but I just found one that did not. It is one that I redirected from another account, on another platform, so I was waiting for it to appear and thus noticed it did not. Now I have to wonder what other emails I may not have seen. I have redirected emails before with no problem. What could be causing this?

Additionally, when I tried forwarding the message instead, it worked fine. The message originated also at a gmail account.

just guess,

Is the folder your mail is stored in on gmail subscribed in Thunderbird? Usually IMAP folders other than the basics are not. Right click the account in the folder pane and select subscribe to ensure all the folders you want to see are subscribed.

Check on the gmail web site that that folder is selected for display in IMAP. Not all are, and some are actively hidden by gmails default settings.
