Error appears claiming TB failed to connect to pop3.mydomain, However, that is not my mail server: why is TB trying to connect to a guessed (wrong) server?

Not sure what's triggering it, but sometimes when I start TB, it throws an error saying it failed to connect to "imap.mydomainname" or "pop3.mydomainname", but my mail server host is NOT named 'pop3' nor 'imap'. It's like TB is guessing a wrong name and attempting to connect, even though the correct name is configured.

um, sorry, it's not: Requested troubleshooting data below. Note: I haven't seen the error in a few days, but pretty certain the error referenced "pop.hughes.name" rather than "shawn.hughes.name". Since dot name is such a stupid TLD (yeah, I fell for it and have regretted it since), perhaps it's a use case not anticipated by TB dev's.

Can you post a screenshot of the error message when you get one? https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem

There's nothing wrong with the .name TLD. Thunderbird doesn't care about the name anyway, the domain name ultimately get's resolved by the authoritative DNS server for that domain.

I don't know why you'd get an error message with a different host name, but I somehow doubt this is related to Thunderbird. It could be related to a DNS issue, but that's just speculation at this point.
