how can i remove firefox completely on osx?
I had some trouble with add-ons so I wanted to completely remove Firefox and start with a freshly downloaded version. So I manually deleted the files as described on this page: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox#Removing_user_profile_data
But after installing a new version of Firefox it won't start and it keeps telling me my profile is missing.
Chosen solution
I'm sorry to say you did this the wrong way.
What you should have done is;
Reset Firefox
This would have removed all add-ons and restored all settings to factory fresh.
Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles

Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles
When your removing Firefox from Application, it won't remove Firefox Profile
Remove Firefox Profile in Two ways
- Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information
- Application Basics > Profile Folder > Show in Finder
Before deleting your profile QUIT your firefox and Remove it
- Finder > Current User > Library > Application Support > Firefox > Profile
Remove it and Remove the firefox from application.
Download the Firefox from www.mozilla.org
