Usually Firefox saves a file, usually a jpg, in the last folder I used, but 40% of the time it jumps around to other folders; how can I force it to save in the last folder used?

I save pictures I find on the Internet in various subfolders in a directory called "My Pictures". There are over 100 subfolders. Usually Firefox saves the next picture I want to save to the last subfolder used. However, many times it does not and this is quite annoying. Is there any way I can force Firefox to always save in the last subfolder I used to save a picture? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

go to TOOLS then OPTIONS then GENERAL then DOWNLOADS session click SAVE FILES TO and BROWSE the file you like, don't forget to click OK to save changes. Exit firefox and restart-it.

No, your response didn't answer my question. What you described was how to save to the same file every time. That was not what I asked. Specifically, when saving a pdf/jpg or whatever to a folder, Firefox generally goes to the last folder used. I have multiple subfolders under a directory entitled "My Pictures". If I save a file to one of these subfolders, the next time I want to save a file, Firefox usually pulls up that particular subfolder, but 40% of the time it does not. It jumps around all over the place and I then have to redirect Firefox back to the last subfolder used. This usually works for some time, but for no apparent reason, Firefox then decides to pull up a different subfolder. What I am looking for is a way to force Firefox to ALWAYS go back to the last subfolder into which I saved a file. If you can help me, many thanks. If not, please let me know.

That is a deliberate change.
The download directory in Firefox 8+ is remembered based upon the URL of the image.

Well, Firefox 8 doesn't remember things that well. Many times I save jpg's from the same URL, but Firefox still jumps around all over the place and refuses to pull up the directory into which the last jpg was saved from the same URL. Which leads me to the question. Is there a way to force Firefox to do what I want and not what it wants?
