New to Windows 7 and Firefox- Icon shows on the task bar but will not display the window on screen. When I set the cursor on the icon the small windows show what's open. It appears that the display of windows is somewhere off to the right side of the monitor. Haven't a clue as to how it happened. How do I get the windows back to the desktop where I can see them? Thanks for any advice that will help.

In Windows 7, pressing/holding the windows key and the right arrow key FINALLY made the window reappear for me! Deleting the localstore.rdf did NOT work for me, unfortunately.

Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can move and resize that window. If that works then close Firefox to save that setting.

Window sizes and positions are stored in localstore.rdf in the Profile Folder.

Thanks for trying but alt + space does nothing that I can see. Afraid that I'm brand new to Win 7 and there's too many changes that don't make sense yet. The window as I click on the task bar opens and shoots off to the right so I can't even get to the menus in firefox.

This is exactly what's happened to me, and it just started this morning. I've been using Windows 7 since I bought my laptop over a year ago, and have had no problems with Firefox at all until now. I upgraded to Foxfire 11 in the last few weeks, but it seemed to be working fine. This is very aggravating, and I need to fix it, because I need to use Firefox when I'm working in Blackboard for school online (Blackboard has compatibility issues with IE).

Did you try to delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder?

Deleting the localstore.rdf did not work for me either, and I ended up uninstalling Firefox, reinstalling it, and I lost all my many, many bookmarks. Very frustrating, and lesson learned. Save your bookmark backups to a completely separate folder, otherwise they'll disappear. Am VERY frustrated, as I came home tonight and Firefox won't open again after working OK once I reinstalled it. Appears to be open in the task bar, can hover over icon and I can see it, but clicking on it won't bring it to full screen. I'm getting ready to go back to IE, because this is ridiculous. Just had an automatic Firefox update a few days ago, so don't know if this had anything to do with it. Please stop putting out updates and fix the current issues. Any advice would be helpful - I'm pretty upset about this.

hmmm I still find the top solutions complicated but I found an easier solution....

hover the mouse over the firefox icon on the taskbar, then RIGHT+CLICK, then click move, then right arrow key, then you can see gray border, that's the window then just click wherever
