Since Firefox updated itself to version 16.0.1 the other day I have experienced numerous random freezes and crashes. When I restart Firefox sometimes the same pages crash again, sometimes they don't. I haven't changed anything else on my computer and all my software is up-to-date. I never had any problems with the prior version of Firefox. This new version seems to be very unstable!

Sorry to hear that. Please use these steps to give us a crash report ID. That will help us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox location bar (that's where you enter your website names) and press Enter. You should now see a list of submitted crash reports.
  2. Copy the most recent 5 report IDs that you see in the crash report window and paste them into your forum response.

Thanks in advance for your help!

You can also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
