We can stop here if you don't answer the questions.
How can I obtain a certificate from my provider Can I request an exemption
I try to get my mail via thunderbird and no matter which settings I give for the server I cannot get my mail
This happened after i installed the latest version of thunderbird
The error message you posted has nothing to do with certificates.
It says username or password is incorrect. Where are you getting this certificate stuff?
The error message that you posted can be, like it says, an incorrect username or password. Go to your providers web mail site and make sure your log in works there. If works then you know your log in. If it does not work, fix it while there.
If you know your username and password is correct then it could be incorrect server settings or your antivirus software getting in the way. Get a current list of server settings from your provider and compare what you have in Thunderbird. Fix anything needing changed.
I am able to get my mail via the webmail provided How can I find out if my antivirus is causing the problem I have other emails that I do get via the thunderbird but they all have a security setting (ex. Startls) and use a normal password
In the case of netvision the setting did not have security and it worked until i got the new version of Thunderbird.
I did talk to my provider and they couldnt help me
You can start your operating system in safe mode with networking to eliminate the AV.
Did you confirm the server setting with your provider. If they cannot help your with that it is time to get a new provider.
I know that userid and password are correct as well as server settings
How can find out if antivirus is the problem
All the emails I use that work in thunderbird have a security setting (starttls) and go via a normal paassword
This email (netvision) has the setting
I told you, start your computer in safe mode. This eliminates the AV.
