I would like to move the awesome bar aka address bar to be on same line as my menu bar. My search box is also there. In older versions, this was easy to do under customize. Under FF 34.0.5 I cannot get it to move. How can I move it?

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension.

  • You can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
  • You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)

Thanks, the Classic Theme Restorer allowed me to move the Address portion of the bar back up to the top. I now would like to get rid of the small bar under the tabs where the Awesome Bar use to be. I can change the space above the tabs with CTR but it does not appear to affect the space below the tabs. Any suggestions?

That is likely the Navigation Toolbar if you removed all items from that toolbar or another toolbar.

You can use one of these to set which toolbars to show.

  • "3-bar" Firefox menu button > Customize > Show/Hide Toolbars
  • View > Toolbars
Tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
  • Right-click empty toolbar area

Thanks for the suggestions. The only tool bar I have is the Menu Bar. From what you wrote it appears I now have an empty bar that could accept icons, address boxes and others. Since I have nothing on the bar and it does not show up as a toolbar, how can I get rid of it?

If you have the Classic Theme Restorer extension then you should be able to hide the (empty) Navigation Toolbar.

You can check out the Toolbar settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.

  • You can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)
