An interactive language learning CD that starts in Firefox says flash 6 plugin not detected but I have installed the latest flash player from Adobe
I have a interactive language learning CD that I start by double clicking on a file "start.html" The applications says that "We have detected that you don't have the Flash 6 plug-in for this browser - to download the free plug-in go to Macromedia."
I have installed the latest version of Flash Player and checked in the list of plug-ins that it is "always activated".
I have uninstalled and tried again. Same result.
Hoping someone can help.

Did you go to Adobe site to test the flash? Macromedia has long go under. How old is the CD?

Already checked the installation of flash. It is ok. The program is about 7 years old. Used to work well. BTW, the system requirements for it list Flash 6 and shockwave 8.5.1 among the requirements. What can you tell me about these? Thanks for replying!!

With Firefox 52 and later, the Adobe Shockwave Player won't work. The only Plugin that is allowed is Adobe Flash.
My advice is to use the Firefox Portable ESR 52 version, which installs separate from Firefox 58 and won't affect it, and use that for playing the interactive CD. https://portableapps.com/news/2017-11-14--firefox-portable-esr-52.5.0-released
And use there Support if you need help getting Flash and Shockwave working in Portable. Some files will need to be copied into the Portable version as it doesn't use Registry Keys to find & use Plugins as the official release versions do. https://portableapps.com/support https://portableapps.com/forums/support/firefox_portable Created by a 3rd party, with permission from Mozilla to use the branding.
7 years old is old in computer history. It's probably using outdated flash that is incompatible with the new O/S and older Flash is most likely blocked from installing. So you need to find a newer version from the 7 year old software.
Thanks WestEnd. I figured as much, you just confirmed it
