If I forward an email (with attachment) to a TB group address the mail is rejected unless there is also an address in the To: field.

I get:-

Sending of the message failed.

The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.ntlworld.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

If I enter an address - e.g. my own - in the To: field in addition to the address in the Bcc field the mail is sent. All other mail works correctly, just not a mail with only Bcc contents.

I am using TB 92.2.1 (32bit) under Windows 10 Pro (64bit)

Help?

That is a restriction being enforced by your provider, not Thunderbird. Perhaps raise it with them why only using BCC addresses is no longer allowed.

I would guess it is because most true spam is sent out using BCC, but that is just me guessing.

No your provider is Yahoo. Originally AOL

As you and the original poster here are using different mail providers it makes it being the same problem unlikely, although there are some old virgin media mail accounts hosted also with yahoo I believe. So it could be a commonality of provider.

But that does not change the original answer, ask your mail provider what the issue is. My guess is a policy of not accepting outgoing mail via SMTP without a valid To: address as a spam minimization feature.

Noting Yahoo does surprises me, they appear to be more than a little disconnected from reality.
