Firefox crashes at startup after an upgrade to version 7.0.1

It crashes on start-up even in safe mode.

I have tried a complete un-install and reinstall but choose to keep all my settings (eg bookmarks) etc as I don't want to loose my bookmarks.

The likely problem is use of certain Oracle etc software, the developer Oracle being aware of the problem and working on a fix. Meanwhile there is a registry hack as a potential workaround, or the simpler workaround of downgrading temporarily to firefox 3.6.23.

Killing the process "ssoShell.exe" (located: "C:\Program Files\Passlogix\v-GO SSO") using Windows Task Manager allows Firefox to start up. But this is not a good fix. The posting above by knorretje is much better. Thanks.
