I am a developer using Java, AJAX, and Java Applet. To launch a Java Applet, I use JavaScript to compose a <Applet> tag, and insert this text into a span element. In FireFox 3.5 and 3.6, the browser picked up the change, and launch Java Applet correctly. However, in FireFox 4.0 and 5.0, the same code does not work anymore. The code change is simply ignored. After downgrade to 3.6, the code works again.

Make sure that you use DOM methods like appendChild() or insertBefore() and not modify the innerHTML
