I am running a mid-2012 retina MacBook Pro (OS X 10.8.2, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M OpenGL Engine). I updated to FF 18 yesterday. When using FF on the laptop alone, everything works perfectly. At work, though, I run multiple monitors in the following configuration:

rMBP -Thunderbolt Cable-> Apple Thunderbolt Monitor -Apple mini-display cable--> Apple Cinema Display

In other words, the two external monitors are daisy chained from the laptop. I use all three monitors.

When I use FF on the center (Thunderbolt) monitor, any text I enter and any dropdown menus that are supposed to appear on FF itself show up as a tiny text section on the laptop itself. In other words, it looks like FF is trying to display the information from the browser where it would be on the laptop if the browser were open there. I have screencaps if you would like to see them.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

I also have this problem. I have tried everything from the link provided by cor-el

I also have the same issue, but I also have an issue where it opens up on the thunderbolt display, it doesn't display correctly. You must move it to laptops display then back to the thunderbolt display. I have attached a screen shot.

I had this error as well, but it automatically fixed itself after a few seconds when it realized it was on the regular display (no retina). This happens often to me when I use firebug.

@scottm5443: Mine does that exact thing, too. It goes away when I "grab" the corner of the window and begin to resize it.

Also, I tried using the nightly build -- I am still having the same problem as with the stable (v.18) and beta (v.19) versions -- and it only happens on the retina display.
