Why won't my "saved tabs" open in Firefox?

I open Firefox (default browser) then I open 7 tabs....Google Search and 6 others. I enter "Tools" then modify the "General" page to open my last tabs, when Firefox starts. I also, have downloads pointed to a folder on my Desktop. Once I close Firefox and restart it.....it opens 3 Firefox Tabs.....Mozilla Firefox Web Browser / Firefox + Windows 10 / Mozilla Firefox Start Page.

I cannot get Firefox to open my 7 tabs....i.e. the last tabs I had open before I quit Firefox. And the "General Page" defaults back to it's original settings.

And right now.....the "upload images" function isn't working. So I can't offer screenshots.

Hi rah4736,

It looks like you just updated or that you are opening a new profile or instance each time if the tabs will not stay in place. In order to test this, please try the following steps and report back what happens.

  1. What is the setting that you have set for History? Do you forget the history each time you close Firefox?
  2. Try to change the way you close Firefox, does this make a difference?
  3. Open Firefox with the Profile Manager, Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles to open up the default profile. To find what the name of your profile is check the about:support page.

I don't have any idea how to set a profile. I have never opened the "History" option and I've never been into the profile manager. The General page says that if I set "open my tabs from last time" AND I enter those sites in the Home Page bar.....Firefox will remember those tabs and automatically open them the next time I enter Firefox.

But it doesn't apparently work that way. Firefox is supposed to be the best Browser out there. Right now it sucks.

Hi rah4736,

I understand the frustration that the tabs do not open when you restart Firefox. Those questions were meant to find out more information about your specific Firefox set up to make sure it was not a changed setting affecting the feature or the profile. I agree, however the best is not always perfect.

Thank you for providing that information, it is very much appreciated. You are correct in that the setting to remember tabs from last time and to have those tabs open on start up are contradictory. It is one or the other. In order to open both you will need to have the homepage set then use History > Restore Previous Session.

Or you can have those pages pinned at all times, have the Firefox start session as Show my windows and tabs from last time, and they both with show up.

If you want both, please provide this feedback in the [input.mozilla.org] site.
