Thunderbird 102.2.2 upgrade on 10 Sept has corrupted my profile, I'm not able to see contents of ANY current mail folders, and all saved mail folders are missing. I tried uninstall and re-install, and now get error message that TB cannot load because profile is corrupt or missing. Can anyone help. please??

perhaps you need to change the email address used in your profile then. No one here gets to set the address posts on the forum are notified to.

I am having this same problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled hoping it would fix it, but it hasn't. ugh. I have changed the view, etc. The 3 little dots by folders does not work at all, nothing shows. Below is a screenshot:

Thunderbird updated from 91.12.0 (20220817215453) to 102.2.2 (32 bit) today, September 13, 2022. Now have zero (0) mail folders. The calander and address book are OK. The profile path is correct. Under View->Folders ALL is checked but nothing shows up, same as dbruneault.

If I go to Edit->Find->Search Messages = Can see folder names under Choose Folder "Local Folder", but unable to set any filter.

I was able to recover after re-installing a new copy of Thunderbird 102.2.2 over the current installation. Then went to Help->'TroubleShoot Mode' and was able to see the mail. Next launch of Thunderbird had same problem. Again went to Help->'TroubleShoot Mode' only this time I selected "Reset toolbars and controls". Its been running fine since.

As an aside, @Toad-Hall had a suggestion to use a recent version of 'prefs.js' - Exit Thunderbird. - Rename 'prefs.js' to 'prefs.js.old' - Rename the 'prefs-x.js' (where x is the highest number and file has good size' ) to 'prefs.js' - Start Thunderbird. That gave me hope as I was able to search for messages until next launch.

i'm having similar problems. i can see my saved search folders ok, but there's nothing in any of them for September! so i have to see everything in my Inbox.

i would like to roll back to the previous version, but so far none of my posts have elicited an answer to that one.

where is "Reset toolbars and controls", please, i can't find it? Troubleshoot mode didn't help me, unfortunately. i tried reinstalling, but all that happened was that i lost all my local folders, both real and saved searches. so i had to go back to the original 102.2.2, which refuses to show me any emails from September other than in my Inbox!

Disclaimer: I am not part of any "Support Group". Just a user attempting to help. Make a backup of your Profile before making any changes. YMMV

Under the "Tools" Tab goto: Settings/Account Settings/Local Settings There you'll find the "Local Directory" of your Profile and location of your messages. If you copy the location of your "Profiles", paste it into "File Explorer" and check the file dates. There you'll see many have been updated with the new version. As far as I know, can't use this profile contents with an older version of Thunderbird. If you have a backup of your profile before the upgrade then, maybe you can use the associated version for that backup. For now, suggest making a backup copy of your current profile before attempting recovery.

If you have a Folders . . ./Local Folders (I didn't) you might try a right click on the Inbox and select 'Folder Properties' where you'll find a pull down menu. I've always had my 'Retention Policy' set to 'Don't delete any messages'. Under 'General Information' there is the "Repair Folder' option w/description. There is also an exit w/o change. Make sure you have a backup.

"Reset toolbars and controls" When you go into the Help->'TroubleShoot Mode, select "Restart". After restart your see the Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode where you may check box, Reset toolbars and controls.

Same issues, same dysfunctional hamburger menu and no folders or messages showing. Messages download and then can't see or access them. Sweet feature for my business.

Uninstall and reinstall does not work. Troubleshoot mode useless. Download old version and tells me won't work because this whack version changed the profile.

You people update a simple mail client like it needs to take a new shower every few days. Is exhausting but has worked for me for fifteen years even as all I need to is send and recieve.

Now you've once again done the techie cutesie of violating "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and TORCHED my life's emails and my email capacity. I see this problem is days old with no communication.

Intensely disappointed. I hate MS--and gmail is utterly out of the question---but you all compromised the daylights out of the once leading firefox browser, which I left behind in the dustbin years ago in favor of privacy---yet now, et tu Thunderbird?

Sad.

I have lost all my folders after an update, - and just have the screen that has been photographed on this thread. Has anyone or does anyone know how to fix it yet???

i've had very similar experiences. i had to recreate all my folders. and many duplicate emails were created, which it took ages to sort out and get rid of. also my virtual folders ("saved searches") were all corrupted. so i had to recreate those as well. this was a long process, as a lot of my virtual folders have a lot of search criteria. altogether, it took me a couple of weeks, though not 24/7, obvs.

i found that a lot of virtual folders were marked as having a number of folders selected, but on going into them, they didn't. this can't be cleared, so the folder remains corrupt and has to be recreated.

another thing to watch for with these virtual folders, is Do Not Dare to move any of the folders they depend on, or even rename them, as this screws them up royally, and they can't be fixed, so they have to be recreated. another clue to their being corrupted seems to be that the sorts don't work properly, or sometimes at all.

i think it is despicable of Thunderbird to introduce a new version which restructures the files and folders in the profile without letting us know in advance. this is just wrong. we all have quite a lot of our lives invested in our email client, some more than others, but it's a big part of one's life to go wrong. i am sticking to 102.3.0 until i have a very good reason for upgrading.
