I had to download the Webdesign (?) toolbar. Now one of the three green checkmarks on the right is always a red X for Error. Why?
I downloaded the Firefox Toolbar for Web Design. This Toolbar has the buttons for Cookies, CSS, Forms, Images, Outline, etc. There are three green checkmarks on the right side of the toolbar. Now, however, no matter what webpage I'm on, the middle green checkmark turns into a red button with an "X" in the middle. This serves to indicate there's an error somewhere. When I open the error window, there are always thirty or forty errors listed for just one or two minutes time! What in the world is this about? If I'm going to be inundated with problems just because of this toolbar, I will have to get rid of it and find a different way to apply Disable and CSS.

This is completely normal. The toolbar does not create errors, it just highlights existing errors.
Basically, most websites have some minor errors. These usually do not cause any problems, but the Web Developer Toolbar notifies you about them anyway. The Web Developer Toolbar is most often used by people while they are testing their own websites, so it wants to let you know of any potential problem it comes across in the websites you load.
Anyway, you can safely ignore the red button. In fact, if you just want to disable CSS you can remove the Web Developer Toolbar and instead install the Read Easily add-on, which should be easier to use. Just remember to add the button to Firefox after you install it.
