When I try to use EDM (Documentum), it keeps on giving error that 'Your browser does not support Java.' The Java Console add-on is enabled and IE doesn't give similar error.

This happened

Every time Firefox opened

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you need the Next-Generation Java™ Plug-In (present in Java 6 U10 and later). See http://java.com/en/download/faq/firefox_newplugin.xml --- Your plugins list shows outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks.

# Java Plug-in 1.6.0_07 for Netscape Navigator (DLL Helper)

Update the Java plugin to the latest version. See http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp#jdk (you need JRE)

That solved the problem. Thanks

What can one do to 'force' JRE 1.5 to work. Version 1.6 does not work with my build of Documentum :-(

You can't. Java 1.5 doesn't include a plugin that works with current Firefox 4 versions and layer. You can check the Java Control Center (Control Panel > Java) to see if you can activate a Java 1.5 compatibility mode.
