I upgraded to version 5 and now my HP simple pass won't work. I cannot find a fix.
I tried going back to an older version and that did not work either

No idea, but HP support is usually pretty good, and a quick web search throws up a long thread ( HP Simple Pass Not working in Firefox) on the subject from last year.
I suggest you try looking on the HP forum and asking a new question there if necessary. If you post back with how you get on it may help others.
HP doesn't make their Simple Pass software. Recently it was being supplied by two different software companies, EgisTec and Digital Personas. Digital Personas exited the consumer fingerprint reader software business shortly after both IE9 and Firefox 4.0 were released, without providing an update for either browser. The EgisTec software is said to work for IE9 and Firefox 4.0 according to the EgisTec Customer Service rep who posted in this support thread.

Based upon the last 6 postings in that thread, over the last week or so, it looks like there isn't an update available for Firefox 5.0 yet. My advice is to contact EgisTec support or customer service about this issue.
I am running Firefox 5 on an Hp HDX1600 and the finger recognition does not work. I uninstalled Digital Persona. Installed HP Simple Pass. But the fingerprint reader does not read. Reinstalled HP Simple Pass. Still does not read. Tried system restore but cannot restore the Digital Persona. I use finger recognition on dozens of websites. It was quick easy - now back to typing passwords and remembering the capitals and lower cases and which letters I changed to numbers. Is there no solution?

...but who is responsible for that situation? Mozilla - which make some changes of something what was working; or DigitalPesrsona - which makes no upgrade for mozilla changes?? Can anybody say what fingerprint scanner software is compatible with FF6??
Hi guys, I've good news!!:

"Dear Alberto Cobre, Thank you very much for your feedback.
The support has been ready. Our development team will have a new version next week. It will support Firefox 5&6 together. we will inform you as soon as possible after it passes testing."
Let's hope everything will be ok!
Wow "next week" is timely, considering Firefox 7 is due to be released 0n 9/27 - you'll get use of that device for like 3 weeks.
