Primary Password Reset
Hi I have several synced Firefox browsers on different devices and one has a Primary password enabled which I have forgotten. If I reset the primary password, will I lose all usernames & passwords on all the other synced browsers.
If so, what is best practise to keep all password information stored?
Thank you.
Gareth

Resetting the Primary (Master) Password will remove all password data from your system. Warning: This will likely remove the password data from all members of the sync as well.

Hi I have several synced . . . and one has a Primary password enabled which I have forgotten.
Does this mean the other members of the sync do not? If this is true, you can get the data from them. (not the primary)

Export your passwords from Firefox in a portable CSV or JSON format. For example:

CSV: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1253828 (copy/paste from console)

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
You can backup the logins.json and key4.db files in the Firefox profile folder that are involved in storing the passwords. See also:
Best is to disconnect this device before resetting the Primary Password.
