Using 3.6.3 on Mac OSX 10.6.3. Have been running extensions without any problem until lately. I have found that randomly, when an extension is installed, the next time I start firefox it will refuse to start and will only start in safe mode with all extensions disabled. Removing and reinstalling extensions does not seem to resolve this issue. Even after completely removing Firefox and reinstalling it the same thing will happen, the moment I install an extension. Example extensions are video downloadhelper. I can install URL Shrink Easy and Personas and they work, but as soon as I install downloadhelper, evernote clipper or downloadthemall it refuses to start. These all worked just a couple of days ago. What the hell is going on?

User Agent

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10_6_3; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.375.29 Safari/533.4

Have you tried disabling each extension one by one and restarting Firefox? It could be that just one of the extensions is the culprit. Let me know if this helps.

I already know that it seems to be selective extensions that cause the problems as per my post. The problem is that these were working fine before and there have been no updates other than the Evernote update on the 6th. This seemed to stuff everything and I had to complete remove and reinstall Firefox and install all my extensions bar Evernote. This worked until the 8th when I tried to install a flash downloader and bam! The same thing happened and nothing I did stopped either video downloadhelper and Evernote from stuffing things, including a complete reinstallation!

When I start Firefox, the startpage (www.kpnvandaag.nl) remains blank, and there is this error message (at ´extra´ - ´errorconsole´):

Fout: ExtensionManager:_finishOperations - failure, catching exception - lineno: 4515 - file: undefined - [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED) [nsIFile.remove]" nsresult: "0x80520015 (NS_ERROR_FILE_ACCESS_DENIED)" location: "JS frame :: file:///C:/Program%20Files/FireFox/components/nsExtensionManager.js :: EM__finalizeUninstall :: line 4515" data: no]

What should I do?
