Since upgrading to Firefox 5, the entire navigation tool bar is missing. The view navigation is selected but the entire toolbar is missing.

The back/forward button, address bar, search all gone, what happen ?
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
- If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
- If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
- If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

Did all that and it still did not show up. I ended up having to delete everything and start anew and add things back one at a time. I always have to do this whenever Firefox Upgrades, it's a PITA. Why can't they set it up so the third party addons doesn't interfere with the base browser setup.
I notice many addons when removed they don't clean up after themselves and have left over stuff that could interfere with upgrades.
I have the same problem even with all add-ons disabled and after a re-boot. The FWD-REV Icons are not in the Custom group, not is Location, Refresh and a number of others. They were there and now they are gone.
Hello
After a lost of Add-On testing I found that if I disabled the FireShot 0.91 Add-On the problem goes away. After disabling FireShot restart FireFox 5.0 (FF). Then select the View/Toolbars/Navigation Toolbar menu. Then select "Custom" and search the Icons, you should once again be able to find FWD/REV, Refresh (recycle), Stop, Home, etc...
Please let me know if this helps your problem, doug@shuck.com

I had same problem before upgrade from FF4 to FF5. I had to disable ColorZilla 2.5.5 in order to fix the problem. Seems that some add-ons just don't play nicely.
UPDATE
I have been working on this quite a bit and I have found that it may be more related to the sheer number of add-ons install and not so much a specific add-on, even though that possibility still exists.
I have been able to enable 15 over the more popular add-ons and up to that point everything works well. If I add one or two more then the problems shows up again. I would then remove those additional add-ons and restart Firefox 5.0 and the Navigation Toolbar would return to normal operation.
I hope this helps. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon?
Never mind it was the stop/reload only that was missing and I see they have changed the way it works. I don't like it.

To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
- Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
- Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
- Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
- Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise (Space or Separator) to get two distinct buttons.
