On downloading Mozilla Thunderbird my hotmail account was syncronised automatically but when I open the programme there is no option for me to "sign in" or "out" it just opens up my "hotmail" account. How do I set up a seperate "log in" password for Mozilla ?

Go to Tools|Options|Security|Passwords→Saved Passwords and remove the stored passwords.

Next time you run it , it will prompt for a password.

But many of us allow Thunderbird to store passwords, so there is no explicit "signing in" or "logging off". You just open, use and then close Thunderbird and it all happens automatically.
