PDFs open continuous multiple blank tabs, have to crash FireFox to stop it. Can't read PDF
If I click to read a PDF in Firefox, FF starts opening tabs, about one every 2 seconds, and won't stop until I use Task Manager to crash FF. The web address of each tab is referring to a temp file on my C drive, not the www. I have tried setting FF to ask me each time if I want to open the PDF page, it just slows down the process, my machine still wants to do unlimited new tabs that have no content. I'm running Windows 7, I've tried downloading the latest FF, still can't get the gazillion tabs to stop.

HI, strange. Give this a try please : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer

Did you select Firefox as the application to handle PDF files when you where prompted via an open with download dialog?
You should never select Firefox in such a case because Firefox wouldn't ask if it could handle this file.
You get tabs opening endlessly if you select the Firefox program to handle a file when you get an "Open with" dialog.
Is the builtin Firefox PDF Viewer enabled?
