I have a problem with Firefox on my desktop. I was accessing some information from a Canadian government website when a new search responded with an Access Denied message, I repeated this with other government of Canada websites with the same result, the content of those messages are as follows: First CRA Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency.html" on this server. Reference #18.cc58d617.1634682762.4c16e09 Next Service Canada You don't have permission to access "http://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/corporate/portfolio/service-canada.html" on this server. Reference #18.cc58d617.1634681151.4aae992 Finally the main Government of Canada webpage You don't have permission to access "http://www.canada.ca/en.html" on this server. Reference #18.cc58d617.1634683027.4c6baf5 I then successfully accessed a number of other pages and it appears that I am denied access only to the Canadian government server. I was able to successfully access the same Canadian government information from 2 laptops. Next I installed Microsoft Edge on the same desktop and had full access to everything. Problem appears to be Firefox - Action: 1. Uninstalled Firefox using Revo Uninstaller Pro, this program is supposed to remove all evidence of the uninstalled program. 2. Restarted computer. 3. Downloaded and ran the current Firefox Installer program. 4. Despite my uninstall actions the Firefox installer detected previous installation and completed a fresh installation back to where we started. Obviously the problem is with Firefox installed on this desktop, How can I solve the issue? There apparently must be some contaminated file(s) remaining 2 possibilities, Revo's deletion is still in the Recycle bin and I now note that there is an "Old Firefox Data" folder with the Desktop files. How can I completely remove all traces of Firefox from this computer so that we can make a fresh start? I wish to keep using Firefox.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox for a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox for this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data for that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data for that website will be saved once again.


Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder.

One location for your personal data (e.g. bookmarks) and another location for temporary files like the disk cache, so make sure to look in the correct location.

Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:profiles).
