When I am reading the very long Thunderbird Inbox daily Subject at, for example, physics@arXiv.org (e.g., "physics daily Subj-class mailing 18020801202 1"), if I have to briefly switch to a different Inbox message, I lose my place and have to start again at the top of a long message. I would like to suggest that Thunderbird retain the offset of a message being read (until that message is moved or deleted) so that switching to a different message and then returning results in a default return to the part just switched from.

You can circumvent the problem of messages not remembering their scroll positions by opening messages in windows, instead of tabs.

I already have many windows open and would rather not open another one just to select a new Inbox message.
