I've noticed that my pinned Gmail and YouTube tabs often don't load the contents and just show a blank page. My pinned Facebook tab never does this, maybe it has something to do with the fact that my Google account is always logged in/on?

I've probably (?) never had this problem on Ubuntu, but on Windows 7 and 10 (upgraded) it happens so often that it's irritating. The YouTube tab is easy to "fix" with the reload button, but the Gmail tab somehow makes that button unresponsive and I have to reload Gmail either from history or bookmarks.

I have some add-ons installed, but those wouldn't cause this, right? This seems like a bug that needs fixing...

What Anti-Virus software do you have on Windows?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that has effect.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I have Avira on Windows, could it cause this behavior?

I tried your suggestions, but the issue is still there.
