How do I remove JW Player from my computer?

more options

Jw player has usurped my regular player and is giving me annoying ads multiple times during the video. Facebook page is gone and is replaced by a generic facebook sign-up page. Generally lots of little tics and lags. My computer is less than a year old and has been running fine until a couple of days ago when I noticed on a putlocker site the JW Player logo appeared and the video started jumping, lagging and showed the ads. There seems to be a lot of fixes when a google search is done. Most of them seem to be clones of each other that offer vague fixes, registry changes (that are out of my knowledge level) and then download fixes at a price. I don't trust any of these sites. I was not able to find any reference to jw player in the Mozilla plug ins, extensions lists or in my Windows 10 program uninstall list. Help. Thank you in advance.

Check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

It is likely that there is JavaScript running on the web page that opens the JW player.

What player was used previously?

The player I've used all along is VLC with no trouble at all. My OS is Windows 10. The program uninstall list does not contain jw player or anything that looks like it may be jw player. It doesn't show up in my Mozilla plug-ins or extensions lists.

I've run Windows Defender, Super Anti-spyware, and Malware Bytes with negative results. I don't know where JW Player came from; I certainly did not download it purposely. It was put on my computer without my knowledge. JK-

JW Player is a tool used by websites to easily serve video to different browsers that have different levels of HTML5 video support and/or different plugins. I think most often it will use Flash. I'm not sure there is any way for end users to bypass it.

Issues with Facebook probably have a different cause. Is the login bar missing at the top?
