When I use printer function after I highlight area on webpage the selection function does not appear to work. What's wrong?

I highlight area on webpage I want to print, go to file, go to print, window opens but you cannot use selection function to print highlighted area and this function does not appear on Preview either. It's print entire page or nothing. What goes? Is this function not available on Firefox? If so how do I get it to work?

Is the Selection bubble enabled under Print range? If not, could you try right-clicking the selected text and check whether there is a "This Frame" item on the menu. If so, click that and then Print Frame.

Even when you get the printout, the results are sometime surprising because Firefox may preserve parts of the page layout and position the selected content too far to the right or not on the first page. If you have that problem, you may need to use a workaround.

Here are a couple add-ons that allow you to isolate the text you want to print in a way that usually works around most selection printing problems:

(1) Print Edit - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/print-edit/

With this extension, you call up Print Preview and then make your selection there before printing.

(2) Nuke Anything enhanced - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nuke-anything-enhanced/

With this extension, you select in the page normally, right-click, and choose Remove Everything Else. Then you can print normally (i.e., don't choose Selection in the Print dialog). Screen shots in this old post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/923294?page=2#answer-328405

To view the whole page again, you might be able to right-click Undo remove, or you might need to reload the page.

(3) Other... I haven't searched for new solutions for a while, so there may well be some new ideas out there.
