In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the page in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled (Flash and other plugins still run)

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any change in performance?

While I would like the security of FF 29, I'd like the old host OS windows borders and decorations. Seems that the new Australis UI doesn't behave like the host OS Window borders, as some windows 'add ons' won't even recognize the FF 29's windows as 'windows'.

Yes, I know that there is a 'Classic Theme Restorer', but that doesn't seem to alter the method used to draw the windows, borders, and menus, so the same integration problem remains.

Might there be a compromise in the future that would give the user the option to enable or disable the the user of native window decoration (i.e. window borders, menus, etc)?

I downloaded and reverted to FF 28 after the update, but the FF 28 that I last had was very stable, where as the FF 28 I downloaded crashes every 4-5 hours. Is there a follow on dot release that I might be missing?

I don't think there was a point release of Firefox 28 for Windows.

Does Firefox crash and display the Mozilla Crash Reporter? The crash report(s) may provide some indication of the problem. The last section of the "Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)" article describes how to get the ID numbers of the crashes to post here so volunteers can take a look.

If Firefox isn't crashing but freezes up, forcing you to kill the process, that probably has a different cause. If you wait a while, does a dialog appear indicating a script is running slowly or other indication of the issue?

No script issues. I notice a large memory footprint for FF i the Windows task manager. A large drop when I click the 'restart ff' button o the crash reporter. All add-ins up to date (automatic).

Windows XP all patched to current, Avast current engine & signatures, drivers are all up to date (nVidia and others).

The system is extremely stable otherwise, running for about a month before needing a reboot.

This has been going on for sometime now, and the most recent self-update before FF 29 appeared to have cured the problem, but since re-installing FF 28, it's come back.
