After the last "update", every time I open Firefox, I get a box with the Firefox Software Updater. It says it's updating/installing the latest updates. This happens every time.

Fred... Just a final update. Followed your script... had a little trouble deleting the folders, but "worked around" that. Ran the scan and re-installed the program. Everything appears to now have been corrected unless something shows up later.. Thanks for all you help. Tom

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Fred.. Thanks for getting back to me, but I'm a little confused. I'm running a Win 10 64 bit machine. So, when you say go to the program folders, I can follow OK. I'm just looking for the program folders or application. From there on, I get confused. There doesn't seem to be any Mozilla folders in the "Program Files (x86) folder except for a maintenance folder. In the regular "Program Files" folder, there is a Mozilla Foxfire folder which contains everything. Are you saying to delete this entire folder ??

Yes, both folders. Then follow the rest of the instructions.

Fred.... I'm following you but I'm still somewhat confused. When I look in the "Program" folder, it opens up and I find the Mozilla Firefox folder. When I open that folder, it has what I would assume the program in it with 4 sub folders and many extensions & application files. I don't know where to look for the "Profile" folder. So, are you saying to delete the Mozilla Firefox folder found in the program directory in it's entirety ?? Then later on, you say to run the "installer". Where do I find that file ?? Also, since I've deleted the entire Mozilla Firefox folder with everything in it, shouldn't I have to download the program again ??

I know this sounds confusing (to me), but somewhere, I'm not getting the whole picture clear in my head.

Fred.... I guess I'm getting blind and not reading well (ha), but I went back and re-read your very first reply and guess what, in your very first sentence you pretty much answered most of my above questions. I'll download Firefox and get the ball rolling... Thanks for your patience.
