I can't seem to find any "official" way to change the key bindings / keyboard shortcuts for firefox. Is this really not configurable?

All of the help articles or stackoverflow questions I see point to using an extension to solve the problem. That's only a partial solution -- it only works in the context of a page which has finished loading.

Is it only possible to "really" change the shortcuts by editing the source code and compiling from scratch?

There was such an add-on. But then came Quantum. Now many great add-ons are useless.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for what you want.

Yes, please!

Especially the "Go to Home Page" shortcut alt-home-cursorLeft is awful!
