configuration issue with outlook.live.com

I have downloaded the latest version of thunderbird on my windows 10 machine . When i setup my existing account (@outlook.com) from outlook.live.com it filles in automatic the imap (outlook.office365.com) and smtp (smtp.office365.com) servers correct but when i try to download emails i get a error: login to server outlook.office365.com with username ...@outlook.com failed. When i logon via webmail with the same password i can login. Also i set the option "let devices and apps uses pop" to yes via the webmail. Rebooted the pc but no luck. Could somebody help me? If you need more info let me known

Does the account have two-step verification? If it does, create an app password and use that in place of the account password.
