The Google search bar goes to www.google.com/firefox - how can I get it to go to www.google.com without the /firefox?

Had the same problem and found this post.
- Go to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins\
- Open google.xml
- Change google.com/firefox to google.com
