I checked the coding on this website with w3c and there are 108 errors 188 warnings. 

I asked our boss about the google translate not working on my desktop with Firefox. He demonstrated that it works OK in IE and it does in IE on my desktop but not when I use Mozilla Firefox

You need to use document.getElementById('translate') 

window.open(document.getElementById('translate').options[document.getElementById('translate').selectedIndex].value)
