When you put Firefox in full screen all the toolbars disappear. When you hover over the top of the screen the address bar and 'open tabs' bar appear. Is it possible to get the favourites toolbar to appear as well?

If not is there any other way to access favourites without having to close Firefox?

You can do it one of two ways. In full screen mode, hit CTRL+I to display bookmarks in the sidebar (repeat to turn off).

                                         - or-

in the location bar at the top, type about:config and hit Enter.

In the filter at the top, copy/paste the following: browser.fullscreen.autohide

Double click it to change it from True to False, then close the tab.

In full screen mode, the tabs and toolbars will subsequently remain visible.

You're welcome.

Could you please click the "Solved It" button to take your post out of the loop?

Thanks.

You can also toggle that setting if you hover the mouse to the top and right click a toolbar to open the toolbar context menu: Hide Toolbars.

That won't show the bookmarks toolbar AFAIK even if it is selected. You can access the bookmarks via the Bookmarks menu button if you place that button on a visible Navigation Toolbar or Tab bar.

Add code to userChrome.css below the @namespace line to make the Bookmarks toolbar visible in full screen mode.

@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */
#PersonalToolbar[moz-collapsed="true"] { visibility: visible !important; }

It is not the book marks I'm looking for. This was a completely separate toolbar. These favorites had never been added to bookmarks, and now I don't have them or excess to them. I am also missing my address bar with the search engine. I am at a loss I cannot even get to a search engine to find these sites.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.

Make sure that all the toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"

  • If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
  • If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
  • If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.
