some text on web page is redacted.
On the website, nydailynews.com, some text in the articles on that site are redacted and I cannot read them. If I use Internet Explorer I can read them fine.

Hi cpjohn1,
Have you looked at the Websites look wrong or appear differently than they should Knowledge Base article? There is a ton of useful information in there for troubleshooting display issues.
Hopefully this helps!
None of this helps. nydailynews.com still has redacted text. I can read the front page, but when I click on an article the text is all greyed out. Below is how the text of the articles look like.

Can you post a screenshot? (It sounds like a font/CSS issue but hard to tell without a screenshot)
I uploaded a picture of the article. See how the article is greyed out, including the text?
Not a CSS issue. Can you try shift-reloading the page (shift-ctrl-R).
I tried that. It doesn't work.
What extensions do you have? Go to Firefox > Customize > Add-ons
Go to firefox from where? Do I open a webpage? Not sure where I find "customize"
Can't find anything that says "customize"
Firefox menu (if you have that disabled, look in Tools > Add-ons)
AVG.
See image below.
Try disabling it and restarting Firefox.
You may also have a font problem (Arial, Georgia).
You can do a font test to see if you can identify corrupted font(s).
You can use this extension to see which fonts are used for selected text.
