Websites that used to load quickly with Chrome now load about 75% and then seem to stall or take forever to finish loading. What can I do?

Ok, let's try something different.

From the Android home screen open the Settings app (typically a cogwheel icon).

Find and select "Apps" or "Applications".

Find Firefox and in the Storage menu, clear the cache (do not clear data).

Once you have done this, shutdown and restart your Android device.

I hope that this helps.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. The Firefox cache temporarily stores images, scripts, and other parts of websites while you are browsing.
Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies, do the following:

  1. Tap the menu icon located at the top right corner. This is the icon with 3 bars. On older Android devices you'll have to press the hardware menu key and then tap More.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. After that, you will be taken to the settings screen. In the settings screen, look under the section Privacy & Security and select Clear private data.
  4. You will then be taken to a list of what can be cleared. Select the following 2 for deletion:
    • Cookies & active logins
    • Cache
  5. After those have been selected, tap the Clear data button to actually clear the cache and cookies.

Thank you, but I followed your suggested solution and the problems still persist.

Hi

Do you have an example of a website where this is happening?

Do you have any add-ons installed?

Thank you for your assistance. I notice this stalling regularly when I access news sites such as The New York Times, Reuters and The Guardian from my android phone (it doesn't occur when I access these sites from my Macbook Air). The only add-on that I've added to my android phone is Google Translator for Firefox. Thanks again!

Probably your phone is running low on memory for which this issue is occurring? What about other websites? or just new sites are having issue?

more options

According to the memory stats on my phone, 1.9GB or 71% of my 2.7GB total memory is in use, leaving approx 799 MB free. So that probably isn't the problem. Remember also that this problem appears to stem directly from my change of browsers from Chrome to Firefox, so the problem seems to be Firefox specific. Right?

Thank you! Clearing the Firefox cache did indeed speed up the loading of the websites that had previously stalled. I'm very grateful to everyone who assisted me!
