How to update Firefox on Ubuntu 14.04 x64? I would like the Original Mozilla Release installed and used, rather than having the Ubuntu Release Version!

The update option is hidden or removed in the Ubuntu Release Version. I don't quite understand what they are saying on installing or updating FireFox on the Ubuntu site?! I was hoping to receive an easier explanation as to how to either update FireFox to a Mozilla Version or how to install the Original Mozilla FireFox Version!! I am new to Ubuntu and don't quite understand the Linux Lingo! I tried to add an image, but it would not upload my image. Thanks and I look forward to hearing back from someone :^)

So, I got my answer on an IRC Channel. Download to Home Folder, extract in Home Folder, and run Firefox. Thanks for trying to help FredMcD & James!!

Make sure the Firefox folder has read/write permissions so updates can install. If you are the only user then a popular way is to have Firefox folder in /home

Fred there is no Firefox "Installer" for Mac OSX and Linux.

There was briefly a so called installer for Linux (along with tarball) long ago that was really just an extra step for same end result for versions Firefox 0.9 to 1.0.8 as thankfully they got rid of it when Fx 1.5 was released.

Is this what you wanted? Download Firefox Full Installer For All languages And Systems {web link}

No, that is the first place that I went to. It downloaded and I extracted the folder, but it just sat on the desktop. I do not know how to install folders that are on the desktop.

Is there any way to install the Offical Mozilla Firefox via the Terminal? I have installed mostly everything through the terminal with instructions, of course.

You do not have to redownload as you can move the extracted folder elsewhere in a file manager.

This poster is using Linux, not Windows so Installer does not apply in this case.
